The late Mr Alagappa Chettiar, who hails
from a business community of South
India, founded Chamundi Silks, in 1947.
He was traditionally from the banking
business, but ventured into manufacture
of handloom cotton Saris. Success
inspired him to continue in the
manufacturing of silk Saris and fabrics. |
|
With his
foresight to expand the silk business,
Mr Chettiar sent his son, Mr Muthiah,
and his daughter-in-law Valli Muthiah,
to Japan, to study and receive valuable
training in the Silk Industry. |
|
Mr Muthiah
specialized as a silk technologist and
Mrs Muthiah trained in dyeing and
printing. They are associated with the
company for the last 55 years, as
Managing Director and Executive
Director. Their vast experience, rich
taste, and above all, a great passion for
Textiles, has earned Chamundi its
reputation of being known for
innovative, creative and reliable
textiles, worldwide. |
